Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga has called for an amicable solution into the ongoing standoff between the Senate and National Assembly over the Division of Revenue Bill 2019.
Speaking in Nakuru on Thursday during the ongoing consultative meeting between the Council of Governors, Senate and County Assemblies to discuss impasse over revenue sharing, Rasanga decried the negative impact the standoff has on counties.
He called on all concerned institutions to step in and ensure that there is a solution so that counties can operate without challenges being faced now.
“We are in a crisis as far our operations of counties are concerned and we hope the concerned institutions will act. The sooner it is sorted out the better” said Rasanga.
On the accusation that has bestowed on counties on many occasions over matters corruption, the Siaya Governor stated that in this time and era, any public servant who is found to engage in corruption should step aside and pave way for those who can serve with integrity.
While terming corruption a dangerous disease affecting development, the county boss called for a collective responsibility adding that corruption should not be entertained at any level of governance.
“As far as I am concerned, corruption is a disease that should not be entertained at any given time. Those found to be engaging in corruption should pave way for those who can serve with integrity” he said.
