This is according to Nakuru West sub-county Adult education officer Dr Samuel Muthee.

Speaking on Monday during a rehearsal at Kaptembwa Primary school where 34 adult education candidates will be sitting their exams, Dr Muthee revealed that besides Kaptembwa Primary school, other centres in Nakuru West include Prisons and Rhonda Primary schools.

While noting that there has been proper preparation for the adult education candidates sitting for KCPE this year, the adult education officer also called on the government to continue putting more effort towards adult education.

According to Dr Muthee, the government has not been paying examination fee for the adult education candidates which is a blow to the department.

“In Nakuru West, we have really prepared our adult education candidates for the KCPE. The only challenge we have had is the change of curriculum and government not paying for the exam fee but we hope this will be addressed,” said Dr Muthee.

Some of the adult education KCPE candidates in Nakuru West expressed their confidence in passing the exams.

Led by Francis Kinuthia and Ms Mary Wairimu, they said this is their chance to prove to the world that obstacles cannot hinder education.

“We missed the opportunity but now we are ready to battle it out,” Kinuthia said.

The exams will kick off at 8.30 am on Tuesday with the administration of Mathematics which will be available in three variants – normal print, large print and Braille.

The candidates will then sit for English Language and Composition assessment available in normal print, large print, Braille and for the hearing impaired.

Day two of the national exercise on Wednesday will see candidates write Science and Kiswahili Language and Composition exams.

The three-day assessment will close on Thursday with the administration of Social Studies and Religious Education exams.
