A section of Machakos MCAs allied to governor Alfred Mutua has come out to defend ODM leader Raila Odinga over his remarks that rubbed the Kamba community the wrong way.
In a press conference at Machakos town the MCAs led by Mua ward MCA Francis Ngunga stated that Raila meant that the Kamba community were a loyal lot and do commit to their promises.
"Baba didn't mean to harm anyone, he stated clearly that the Kamba are loyal and once they make a promise they ensure to keep it," said Ngunga.
He stated that those trying to state that Raila made derogatory statements against the Kamba community are against the Handshake.
He noted that those claiming Raila disrespected the Kamba community are after swaying the Kambas support in the looming Kibra by-election.
"Raila is a man of international standards and he wouldn't abuse the Kamba community which has supported him for almost 10 years," said Ngunga.
On Saturday three Ukambani governors, Alfred Mutua, Kivutha Kibwana, and Charity Ngilu joined ODM chief Raila Odinga in showing support to the ODM candidate Imran Okoth.
In his speech Raila claimed that the Kambas were like women if they decide to give, they do.
However, his Joke seemed to anger a section of Kamba leaders who demanded respect from him.
A number of legislators from the region have asked Raila to apologize to the community over his remarks threatening to form a new alliance away from NASA.
