He said that in one of the local dailies it was reported that people were forced to close their business early because of insecurity in the area.

Mandago termed the news as false.

“I want to refute claims by one of the daily newspapers that there is insecurity at Nandi, those are just rumours that do not carry any water since the place is secure and no cause of alarm,” said the county boss.

Speaking during the opening of the refurbished Silverline hotel on Tuesday Mandago called on the media to always write authentic information and should not mislead residents.

He says they should always do thorough research before publishing any story by contacting relevant authorities noting that such stories might print Eldoret in a bad picture.

“If they have lacked news on what they should not write total lies about Eldoret town since this is a town that has peace and people are doing their businesses without interference,” added the Jubilee second-term Jubilee Party governor.

He further said that security in Eldoret town and its environs has been beefed up, therefore, no cause of alarm.

Mandago said there are enough police officers who conduct regular patrol in town and its environs thus the security of residents is guaranteed.
