A section of Rift Valley leaders have endorsed Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i as President Uhuru Kenyatta's defacto successor.
While the minister is yet to declare interest, a number of leaders from both Nyamira and Kisii Counties have been calling shots on his behalf.
Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama and Senator Okong'o Mogeni have been in frontline advocating for Matiang'i presidency across Gusii.
Rift Valley leaders from Nakuru on Monday backed Dr Matiang'i, insisting that his attitude towards helping the president to deliver is necessary for Kenya.
Led by Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama, the leaders insisted that Dr Matiang'i should take the mantle, adding that sober Kenyans should support him.
"He has a right attitude for work. We should not underrate him. Time has come for us to support a less divisive figure who is focused on delivery," he said.
"This includes sober Kenyans making sacrifices. As Nakuru people, we are ready to push for such changes. God willing, he will take over."
On Friday at Nyaribari Masaba, Dr Matiang'i failed to declare any interest, but gave strong indication that he could join politics after Uhuru's exit.
Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga said:" I know Matiang'i well. He's like my son. Let us allow him to work for now. When we reach that time, we shall see what to do."
