A family from Homa Bay County is in shock after learning that a police officer charged with protecting their daughter has been defiling her.
The police officer was arrested after the mother learnt what the officer has been doing to her 15-year-old daughter at his house in Ndiwa, Homa Bay.
The relatives had assumed that the girl was under police protection at the station but was shocked to learn what the officer was doing.
Standard reports that Homa Bay County Directorate of Criminal Investigations Commander Daniel Wachira who confirmed the incident said the officer who is in police custody has been defiling the Form One student who was seeking protection at the station.
Following a domestic dispute in the family, the girl was forced to go to the police station seeking protection.
The officer, however, took advantage of the matter and locked the girl in a cell since January and has been sneaking her into his house every night.
The officer would then return the minor to the cell in the morning after committing the heinous act.
Wachira said the girl was being held at the station while they make arrangements on where she will be taken to stay.
The commander said an investigation into the matter has been launched adding that the officer will be arraigned in court to answer to defilement charges.
“The girl was held at the police station temporarily as one in need of protection while arrangements were being made on where she would be taken,” Wachira said as quoted by Standard.
