Most of us take coffee at some point during the day due to its numerous benefits.
However, most people do not know that coffee works best when you have eaten. They also do not know how wary they should be of taking it on an empty stomach.
Drinking coffee on an empty stomach or early in the morning when you have not eaten anything, will decrease the amount of cortisol hormone which regulates immune responses, stress and metabolism and this will subject your body to stress, anxiety, and fatigue.
When you decrease the levels of the cortisol hormone by taking coffee first thing in the morning, you will be less energised and alert.
In addition, coffee on an empty stomach will stimulate the acid in the stomach resulting to a more acidic environment and this will cause corrosion of the stomach lining, indigestion, heartburn as well as gastric ulcer.
This can also lead to mood swings, inability to focus and jitters.
The more the acidic environment in your coffee filled stomach, the higher the chances of having cancerous cells grow and multiply since they do quite well in an acidic environment. To avoid this, ensure you avoid drinking coffee on an empty stomach and especially in large amounts.
