In a tweet on Sunday, Activist Boniface Mwangi said that it is a year since the President promised to share the details of the contract but he has not done so.

Mwangi faulted the head of state for taking Kenyans for a ride after they demanded to know how much was exactly spent during the construction of the railway.

“One year later, President Uhuru hasn't shared the SGR contract. Mark Masai should file an access to information request. We need to know what's in that contract,” he tweeted.

Mwangi made reference to an incident in which the president differed with Journalist Mark Maasai when he attempted to find out how much the project had cost.

Uhuru lost his cool and asked Maasai to get a copy of the contract from him.  However, he is yet to fulfil the promise he made in public.

“It's 97 days since President Uhuru Kenyatta promised to give journalist Mark Masai a copy of the Kenya-China SGR contract. He hasn't kept the promise. What did Kenya give China as a surety for the loan, Mombasa port? ” he had tweeted.

ODM leader Raila Amolo Odinga's camp had accused the Jubilee government of inflating the cost of the SGR project.
