Speaking on Wednesday during a panel interview, the legislator urged the Kenyan intelligence community to be on high alert.

He held the view that the country's security apparatus was not on standby.

"We have seen it in Garissa, Lamu and knowing what has happened with the Americans and the Iranians, we need to be a little bit more careful, " the MP said. (11:30-11:41)

This comes hardly 24 hours after the Iranian Revolutionary Guards claimed responsibility for an attack on an Americans operated air base.

Iran has vowed to retaliate against the death of its top military commander who was killed in an airstrike last week on Thursday.

"Harsh retaliation is waiting for the criminals whose filthy hands spilled his blood, " Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said as quoted by NBC News.

There are fears that Iran could target American interests across the world using proxies.

Kenya suffered an attack on a military base shared by its forces and those of the US but  Al-Shaabab denied that it was retaliation for the events in the Middle East.
