One family is in mourning after losing their son in the havoc caused by the Kasarani-Mwiki's demonstration.
The demonstration entered its third day on Thursday as residents continued to demand immediate road repair.
Protesters engaged men in uniform as they tried to calm them down. Unfortunately, it is through this fracas that a teenage boy was allegedly shot dead further fueling the demonstration.
Liilian Waringa a sister to the late Stephen Machurus narrated how they found him.
"We found my brother lying on the road next to a petrol station, surrounded by a multitude of people. He was rushed to a nearby clinic, where we were told the bullet was lodged in a sensitive part of his body," Waringa told Daily Nation.
Apart from the young boy, another man was reportedly shot. However, he is currently receiving medication.
Nonetheless, the protest paid off as Nairobi senator Johnstone Sakaja told the residents that the Kenya Urban Roads Authority(KURA) will repair the road in question.
"The process of the dualling of the road will [begin] in due course. All public service vehicles should return to the roads by this afternoon," Sakaja said.
