Speaking during a phone interview on Radio Citizen's Mambo Mseto, Ringtone said Willy Paul is free to do whatever he liked as an artist. He was however quick to add that his age and social status does not allow him to engage in childish activities.

"What I can tell him is that his age does not allow him to engage in childish activities, because he is the mirror of the society (Mimi naeza tu kumwambia unaelewa kwamba miaka yake haimruhusu kufanya mambo ambayo ni kama ni ya kitoto, Kwa sababu yeye ni kioo cha jamii)," Ringtone stated.

Ringtone also insisted that switching from gospel to secular does not mean that an artist should lose his respect. He went ahead to use Nameless and Kidum as examples.

"Even if he has gone to sing secular songs, we don't say that secular artists are satanic. Because you can sing secular songs and still love God and have your respect. (Ata kama saa hii ameenda akaanza kuimba nyimbo za kidunia huwa hatusemi watu ambao wanaimba nyimbo za kidunia ni washetani. Kwa sababu unaeza imba nyimbo za kidunia na unapemnda Mungu na uko na heshima)," said Ringtone.

Willy Paul has received a lot of criticism after the release of the 'Lamba Nyonyo' song with his official emcee Jalang'o resigning.
