Baby Candy Joy was born with natural blue eyes making her among the few Africans.

Her mother, in a candid interview with Hivisasa on Saturday, disclosed that one glance at her daughter after delivery sent her into a frenzy.

"I gave birth through cesarean section since I had laboured for long. At first, I thought my daughter had eye problems since she was very different from other kids," said Mary.

She narrated how she went back to the hospital wanting to know what was wrong with her daughter's eyes where she was referred to Mama Lucy Hospital.

An eye specialist at the hospital assured her that her baby was perfectly fine but the mother was not satisfied and went to Kijabe Hospital where she was given the same answer, and was satisfied.

"When my daughter started to walk, it was very hard for me because people didn't stop asking me questions about her eyes. These questions gave me a scare and I thought about seeking another doctor's opinion," she narrated.

Mary observed that what scared her most was the fact that in her family or that of her husband, they didn't have anyone with such eyes.

She, however, sought the last opinion at Lions Hospital in a bid to clear her doubts about whether her daughter was normal.

"I had not even seen the doctor, I was seated at the waiting bay when one of the doctors approached me smiling. He told me he knows I have come because of the blue eyes but I should not worry but instead be proud since such eyes were rare," Mary said.

"However, I still insisted on having my kid tested so that I can confirm she is okay. She is two and a half years now and I have accepted the fact that my daughter is normal and okay," she added.

According to live science, people with blue eyes have a common ancestor.

Scientists have since tracked a genetic mutation which occurred between 6,000 and 10,000 years ago that leads to blue eyes.
