A 35-year-old woman has committed suicide by hanging herself from the roof of one bar in Kivaa market, Masinga sub-county of Machakos County.
The body of the woman who owns the bar was discovered on Thursday morning by her worker who raised alarm.
Masinga sub-county police commander Francis Siror confirmed the incident.
"It was reported that a 35-year-old woman who operates a bar business in Kivaa was found dead after hanging herself inside the premise," said Siror.
The reason as to why the woman chose to end her life is still a mystery.
Police arrived at the scene and took the body to Matuu Mediance Hospital Mortuary.
The Masinga police boss further expressed concerns over the rising cases of suicide in the sub-county.
"We have not yet established the reason why the lady ended her life but we will investigate. Cases of suicide are many in Masinga as it's saddening," said Siror.
"Let's learn to seek professional help when things have become too much for us to handle, this lady was very young to die," he added.
This incident comes a day after a 32-year-old man travelled from Thika to his rural home and hanged himself.
