A 23-year-old woman suspected of killing a fifth-year Egerton University student in Nakuru County has been arrested by the police.
Detectives handling the case arrested Patricia Mbithe Mwololo who was hiding in Kibera slum, Nairobi after committing the crime last week.
Njoro Sub County police commander Huka Mohamed who confirmed the arrest said the suspect was linked to the murder of David Ongeri.
Mohamed said they have been looking for Mwololo, a butcher at Egerton area, who went into hiding after Ongeri was found dead inside his rental house at Egerton Gate estate on July 11, 2019.
“Detectives have been trailing the woman linked to the murder of the university student, and has since been arrested,” Huka said as quoted by standardmedia.co.ke.
Huka said the electrical and control engineering student had a deep cut on the neck, face, head, legs and hands and police recovered a panga stained with blood in the house suspected to be the murder weapon.
It is suspected that Mwololo killed the University student following relationship wrangles before going into hiding at a relative's home in Kibera.
“We shall conclude investigations soon and arraign the suspect in court,” added the police boss.
