A female Homa Bay MCA is in police custody over allegations of assaulting a county assembly official.
Kojwach ward MCA Joan Ogada has been in police custody since Friday for allegedly assaulting County Assembly Clerk Daniel Kaundo.
The prosecution demanded for more time to investigate the matter.
Ogada has been accused of breaking into Kaundo's office in the company of two other MCAs, in an incident where some property is said to have been stolen from the office.
Investigating officer Justus Weduve termed her a danger to county employees when the accused was arraigned before Homa Bay Principal Magistrate Thomas Obutu on Friday.
“All prosecution witnesses are the staff of the county assembly hence her freedom may endanger them," he said while requesting the magistrate for more time.
He added that his office could not complete investigations within the 24 hours within which the suspect should be arraigned in court.
“Due to the technicality of the 24-hour rule, I am unable to complete my investigations. It is in the public interest we get more time,” he added.
The accused is facing assault, malicious damage and creating disturbance charges.
