In a tweet, Magaya accused lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi of undermining the Chief Justice, suggesting that it's because court rulings no longer favour the seasoned lawyer.

The Films and Classification Board member revisited 2017 Supreme Court presidential petition in which Ahmednasir, then representing President Uhuru Kenyatta, lost.

"Very least was expected of CJ Maraga but he delivered beyond imagination. Unexpectedly, you SC lost the presidential election petition for the very first time in our history. We floored you! Turn the page to Mutunga, ....let history be the judge," said Magaya.

Maraga became the first Chief Justice in Africa under whose reign a sitting president had his victory nullified. ODM leader Raila Odinga had filed the petition.

In a tweet, Ahmednasir issued a critique on an article written by lawyer George Kegoro, who praised Maraga's achievement as Chief Justice.

"When my friend George portrays/paints CJ Marage as a revolutionary reformist, that isn't an honest audit of Maraga's TENURE (which has nothing much to write home about) it is more about the societal dynamics of their home county of Nyamira & the COMMUNAL DUTY to protect YOUR OWN," he wrote.

Even more recent, Ahmednasir, a former Judicial Service Commission member, attacked the Supreme Court after it overturned Appeals court ruling on Wajir gubernatorial polls.

The senior counsel has been a critic of Maraga. The second Chief Justice under the new constitution will vacate office in 2021, after serving his six years in office.
