Deputy President William Ruto has admitted that there is a rift in the Jubilee party.
Speaking during the funeral of Meru Senator Mithika Linturi's father, Peter Linturi in Athi, Ruto said that the rift has been caused by outside forces.
According to the DP, the rift is as a result of non-Jubilee members who have been pushing for a referendum for their own personal interest.
"Yes there is a rift in Jubilee fuelled by political factions, some are for 'punguza mzigo' while others for 'ongeza mzigo' initiatives. All these have brought confusion in Jubilee," said Ruto as quoted by PD Online.
He noted that Jubilee was losing direction over cheap politics of personal interest.
Ruto was responding to Meru governor Kiraitu Murungiwho had earlier said that Jubilee was on its death bed and if something was not done fast, then it would die.
The DP said that he will ensure the party is back on its feet stating that he will re-unite jubilee and no one will be given a chance to interfere with its agenda again.
"I want to ask all leaders including my brother governor Kiraitu not to lose hope in the party because the small issues will be sorted out," he said.
