Tanzanian star musician Diamond Platnumz's new song 'Yope Remix' featuring Congolese musician Innoss'B has gained one million views within 19 hours of its premiere on YouTube.
The singer who is arguably one of the most successful and celebrated musicians in East Africa seems to be setting the bar extremely high for other musicians in the region as it is now a norm for his songs to gain more than one million views on YouTube in less than 24 hours.
The rate at which the songs takes to gain one million, however, seems to have dropped considering the fact that his last song 'Kanyaga' achieved one million views in 13 hours.
Up to until Thursday, the song 'Kanyaga' was holding the record for achieving one million views within the shortest time.
Rayvanny's teaser video for his upcoming song 'Pepeta' however broke the record when it achieved one million views in 6 hours.
Diamond's new song is a fusion of 'Lingala' and 'bongo' genres of music with a touch of a rhythm that makes the song dance-able to.
Although the singer has not commented on the good performance of the song yet, he had earlier on noted in the comment section of Rayvanny's post that it was no longer a big deal for a song to gain one million views.
Diamond enjoys a huge fan base in Kenya. He has worked with various Kenyan musicians including Akothee.
His relationship with Kenyan radio presenter cum musician Tanasha Donna seems to have widened his fan base.
