The National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) has declared war against property owners in Kitengela, who are yet to adhere to safety standards.
NEMA on Sunday summoned nine property owners from the area, for allegedly discharging raw sewage into the rivers.
According to NEMA, the raw sewage is not only polluting the environment, but also endangering the lives of the people and animals.
The property owners are now expected to present themselves to the NEMA headquarters to respond to the accusations leveled against them.
Led by acting Director-General Mamo B Mamo, NEMA officers vowed to crack the whip and ensure all those found guilty of polluting the environment, are dealt with in accordance to the law.
The organisation has also been pursuing Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company Managing Director Nahashon Muguna over allegations of pollution.
Muguna allegedly failed to repair the areas of leakage on different lines within the city.
He has, however, denied the claims, adding that the issues raised by NEMA were addressed
"The problem facing Nairobi is much bigger and cannot be addressed by one agency," Muguna said.
