Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya on Friday ushered in a potential scholar at his family following exemplary performance of his son, Ian at University of Bradford.
Mr Ian Oparanya managed to get a First Class Honours in Bachelors of Science, Economics, becoming one of the top performers at the UK based institution.
The second term ODM governor who also doubles as the party deputy leader was in the UK to witness the celebrations.
In June this year, Ian, who is one of the close advisors of his father, took to Facebook to congratulate his dad and mum for the support they gave him.
"I’m a happy man today because God my heavenly father has blessed the work of my hand. I have made my dad Wycliffe Oparanya and my mum Tabitha Ambetsa proud parents, I have made my family and friends proud.
"There are people out here on Facebook who believe in me more than I even believe in myself thank you so much for your motivating comments and once again thank you God for this first class honours," said Ian.
His father graduated from the University of Nairobi with Bachelors of Commerce, Accounting option and got Masters of Business Administration from the same institution.
During the previous government, Mr Oparanya served as minister for Economic Planning before contesting for Kakamega gubernatorial seat.
