The mother of Reinhard Sinaga, the Indonesian student who is accused of sexually violating 48 victims, has spoken out, the Evening Standard has reported.
Speaking to the British media, Sinaga Normawatti said that she still regards the student as "her baby" in spite of being convicted of heinous sexual crimes.
She explained how she flew from Indonesia to visit her son in Britain.
“Imagine a small Indonesian man being beaten up by a big, tall westerner. I wondered if the other person had made up the story, " Mrs Sinaga told the Sunday Times newspaper as quoted by the Independent.
Reinhard Sinaga came from a wealthy family that could afford to fund his studies abroad.
His mother said that she had long wanted him to come back to his home country of Indonesia but he would hear none of that.
"He said Indonesia was not a good place to live for him and he felt comfortable living in Manchester," she said as quoted by the Daily Telegraph newspaper on its news portal.
Law enforcement officers believe that Reinhard Sinaga may have violated over 150 men before he was discovered.
Ian Rushton, northwest deputy chief crown prosecutor, described the Indonesian student as Britain's most prolific rapist.
