Deputy President William Ruto on Monday recounted his last moments with Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso.
Ruto said that he had a chat with Laboso on Sunday where they discussed a wide range of issues.
He also said that the governor had requested to go back home but they assured her that everything was under control before they left her at the Nairobi Hospital where she died at the age of 58.
"When I came here on Sunday to see Joyce we had a chat. She was conscious and she asked me what was going on in Bomet, she asked whether she could go home and with Edwin here we told her everything was under control and all she needed to do was to let the doctors take care of her,” Ruto said in a video shared by NTV on Twitter.
The DP also revealed that the governor was going through a lot of pain before she died.
Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi who took to social media, on his part said; “The passing of one of the country's pioneer female Governors Joyce Laboso has robbed the country of a devoted public servant who championed devolution and the welfare of her county. May she rest in eternal peace. We keep her family in prayer."
