Former Makueni Police boss has been arrested for allegedly defiling his daughter aged 13.
The officer Ferdinard Wekesa is said to have committed the crime at his home in Trans Nzoia County on December 29, 2019.
He was found by his wife committing the act on Sunday after returning from church and raised alarm. The matter was reported at Sikhendu Police Station.
"I can confirm that we are having in custody the former police officer," Trans Nzoia Police Commander Ayub Ali said.
Wekesa was rendered jobless following a police vetting exercise where several others were sacked. He was a Divisional Police Commander in Mukaa Sub-County, Makueni County.
Following the incident, Trans Nzoia Women Representative Janet Nangabo said that "We are urging security agents to deal with the perpetrators of such crimes regardless of their positions or statuses, in the society."
Speaking during the 2019 Jamhuri fete at Kitale show grounds, County Commissioner Samson Ojwang sent a warning to the chiefs in the habit of protecting criminals via kangaroo courts.
"There are numerous complaints about some chiefs and their assistants colluding with the sex offenders. Just know that your days are numbered," said Ojwang.
