Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has said that the party does not consider the Thirdway Alliance Party as a competition in any way.
This follows a reporting by the Daily Nation on Wednesday, which insinuated that the Orange party is involved in a supremacy tussle with Ekuru Aukot's Thirdway Alliance side.
The two blocs are having varying opinions regarding the proposed constitutional changes, with each pushing for a different type of changes seeking to achieve different results.
In response, Sifuna insisted that Thirdway Alliance is not its competition, accusing the Daily Nation of tying to balloon the party and transforming it into something it is not.
"This attempt to reduce the debate on constitutional amendment to "attention grabbing politics of survival" by @dailynation is laughable. As @TheODMparty we know our competition. It's not third way. No matter how hard you try to fatten a lizard it will never become a crocodile," he said.
While the ex-Premier Raila Odinga-led bloc is pushing for a larger executive and a return to the parliamentary system of governance, Aukot is pushing for less elective seats in the parliament.
A section of politicians allied to Raila, led by the Siaya Senator James Orengo have openly declared their advance opposition for Aukot's Punguza Mizigo push.
But Aukot has insited that his initiative is unstoppable, and is currently lobbying for its approval at the county assemblies, in pursuit of the minimum threshold of 24 assemblies.
