Uasin Gishu County governor Jackson Mandago has said Eldoret Diocese Bishop Dominic Kimengich will bring peace in the volatile Kerio Valley.
“First I want to congratulate Bishop Kimengich and as a County government we promise to accord him all the assistance he needs in preaching peace,’ said the County boss.
He reiterated that Bishop Kimengich is fit to replace the late Bishop Cornelius Korir in bringing peace in the region.
Mandago spoke to the press in Moi’s Bridge during the handing over of Bishop-elect Dominic Kimengich to Uasin Gishu County.
"Bishop Kimengich, who has been working in Turkana an area experiencing banditry will be instrumental to the region's efforts to restore calm in areas that have witnessed the war in the North Rift region,” said the deputy president allied governor.
He further said as a region they are happy that Eldoret Diocese is among partners who have played a crucial role in helping to preach peace in the region.
Turkana Governor Josephat Nanok said Bishop Kimengich worked in synergy with his government, in projects as water and medical services.
He urged on Governors of counties under Eldoret Diocese to involve the church in the running of peace projects in the region.
The installation of the Bishop-elect Dominic Kimengich will be held on Saturday, at the Mother of Apostles - Seminary, Eldoret.
