Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi has predicted a tough battle this coming year, which would put the country's leadership at loggerhead.

In his view, Ahmednasir believes it would be difficult for anyone to stop Deputy President William Ruto from ascending to power.

However, he noted that handling President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga would make the battle complicated, with Kenyans expected to take sides.

"In Kenya's power dynamics, 2020 is the year when the unstoppable force (DP Ruto) meets the immovable object (H.E Uhuru and Hon Raila)...the rest of the country will cheer on the two respective power houses," he said.

President Kenyatta has been closely working with Odinga, a move that has irked political temperatures from DP William Ruto's allies.

Last week, Dr Ruto said winning State House race won't be a matter of life and death, adding that he is not interested to see Kenyans fighting over him.

“I do not want Kenyans to fight because of me. That is how serious I am. I don’t want people to lose lives because of any politicians. Whether we get the seat or not, what I want the most is peace in this nation. I would rather step aside and not vie for any political seat, than to have Kenyans kill each other over elections again,” Ruto said at his Sugoi home.
