A vehicle belonging to Ikolomani MP Bernard Shinali was on Sunday morning involved in a grisly accident along Kapsabet-Mau Summit road.
The vehicle registration number KBY 948A rolled several times on the road in Molo, few kilometers to Nakuru town. It was badly damaged.
Butere MP Tindi Mwale was the first to confirm the accident, wishing the occupants of the vehicle quick recovery following the incident.
While the first term MP wished quick recovery to the occupants, he did not specify which hospital they were rushed to for treatment or the extent of injuries.
Further, the MP did not exactly specify whether Mr Shinali was on board or not. The vehicle lost control and collided with a matatu along the highway.
"Ikolomani constituency's MP Hon. Shinali's Landcruiser involved in an accident along Kapsabet Mau Summit Road. Pole Sana to Mheshimiwa and the occupants. Quick recovery to those injured," he said.
Mr Shinali buried his son, Chris Masaka on Friday after he was flown from the US. He was serving in the US Marine and is said to have drowned.
During the highly politicised funeral, allies of DP William Ruto and Raila Odinga took on one another, with former CS Rashid Echesa accusing Odinga of neglecting Western Kenya.
“The Luhya nation is in a sorry state after all industries in western collapsed. We thought the ‘handshake’ was meant to unite Kenyans and spur development in all regions, but it is turning out to be a Nyanza affair. Let Raila be informed that western supported him and he should extend the benefits to this region,” Mr Echesa said.
But Budalang'i MP Raphael Wanjala of ODM dismissed Mr Echesa, demanding to know how he helped the region when he served as a cabinet secretary.
“Tell us what you did to revive the collapsed industries before you were abruptly sacked so that we can complete them.”
Sabatia MP Alfred Agoi joined the fray, accusing pro-Ruto MPs from the region of failing to use their proximity to the DP to address the collapse of industries in the region.
“We know that all sugar millers in the region have collapsed and youths are jobless. But if Mr Ruto can allocate Sh63 billion towards construction of a dam, why don’t you talk to him so that he allocates money to revive the industries?” Mr Agoi charged.
