Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has yet again hit out at ODM leader Raila Odinga over the predicaments of lawyer Miguna Miguna.
In a scathing attack on Tuesday, Khalwale accused Odinga of betraying his former aide.
"Whereas they say one picture equals to a thousand words, this one is equal to one word. betrayal! The 'betrayal' in Raila Odinga's betrayal of Miguna Miguna is humongous a thousand fold betrayal!" he tweeted.
Earlier today, Miguna claimed the government had sent a red alert to Lufthansa airlines, effectively blocking him from proceeding to Nairobi.
"In fact, the Kenya Government has demanded that Lufthansa must refund my fare. They have demanded that Lufthansa should not fly me into any other African country, either," Miguna said.
"Lufthansa flight manager is saying that the Government of Kenya must send an official communication to Lufthansa at Frankfurt office before I can be allowed to fly to Kenya or any other African country. Lufthansa says that the red alert was issued by the Office of the President in Nairobi, Kenya," he added.
Government spokesman Col (Rtd) Cyrus Oguna on Tuesday said Miguna is free to travel to the country, adding that Foreign Affairs Department will handle the red alert.
Odinga has in the past distanced himself from claims of ignoring Miguna's plights.
In an interview with Citizen in 2018, he divulged that he tried helping Miguna, but the latter insulted him.
“I want you to spare me that question because you know what I tried to do for Miguna and you know how he’s treated me, the kind of things he’s said about me. Please, I don’t want to talk about one Miguna Miguna!” said Odinga.
Miguna Miguna was deported in 2018, and his attempts to return in March the same year were thwarted by the government.
