Speaking to members of the press on Friday as preparations for the meeting entered homestretch, the county boss confirmed that Raila Odinga would attend but President Uhuru Kenyatta would not.

He said that the head of state would not be gracing the Saturday meeting because he had other pressing engagements and would be travelling out of the country.

According to the county boss, the head of state assured that he would visit Kakamega in a month's time.

"Raila Odinga will be here but the president will not because he will be travelling out of the country but he said that he would come here in a months time to vist us) Raila Odinga atafikahapa lakini rais hatafika kwa sababu ana safari ya kwenda ng'ambo lakini alisema kwa mwezi mmoja atakuja hapa kututembelea)," the county boss said.

The BBI meeting slated for 18, January is expected to attract tens of thousands of people for what its conveners have variously described as a national event.

A section of leaders from Western Kenya have vowed to boycott the meeting saying that it has a hidden agenda of endorsing a presidential candidate.
