During his speech during the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) forum,  Atwoli accused the two of lying to Kenyans about their unity, challenging them to prove it by merging their parties.

But commentator Martin Andati on Monday poked holes into his demand, stating that being a member of the KANU party, he has no right to tell the two what to do with their own parties.

He also faulted the manner in which the remarks were being made, stating that though Atwoli has every right to make the demand in the form of an advise, his was more of an order.

"Atwoli is a member of KANU, which is a partner of the Jubilee Party so he cannot tell them what to do with their parties. He was more of mocking and forcing them. (Atwoli ni mtu wa KANU na KANU iko Jubilee so hawezi waambia vile watafanya na vyama vyao. Yeye ni kama anawakejeli na kuwashurutisha)," the commentator said in an interview on Radio Maisha on Monday.

He added that the two don't even need to break their parties to keep the Luhya community united, observing that all they need to do is form an alliance and work together.

Martin Andati suggested that Atwoli's plan could be to once again rally the duo behind ODM leader Raila Odinga, which he survived in doing in the run-up to the 2017 general elections.

"When he coronated Mudavadi the Luhya kingpin he wanted him to support and it succeeded. (Hata alipotawaza Mudavadi kiongozi wa Waluhya  2016 alitaka asupport Raila na ikatimia)," he remarked.

On Saturday, the two calmly followed from their seats as Atwoli scolded them, in the presence of Raila.
