Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) boss Francis Atwoli now wants former Treasury CS Henry Rotich to name real culprits behind construction of Kimwarer and Arror dams.
Last week, Rotich and his PS Kamau Thugge were axed from government, with the president replacing the former with Labour CS Ukur Yattani.
DPP Noordin Haji dragged Rotich with 27 others to court over alleged embezzlement of Sh21 billion meant for construction of Kimwarer and Arror dams in Elgeyo-Marakwet County.
But in Western Kenya on Saturday, Atwoli pleaded with Rotich to name accomplices in the saga, arguing that he should not go down alone for the sake of justice.
“The former National Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich should not die alone, he should come out and say the people who persuaded him to append his signature,” said Mr Atwoli.
Rotich, who had been at the helm of Treasury for seven years, is facing 24 charges among them abuse of office and conspiracy to defraud the public.
And Atwoli fired at DP William Ruto, who he accused of frustrating the ongoing fight against corruption. Previously, Dr Ruto had dismissed claims that money was lost.
“DP Ruto cannot pretend to be supporting the President on the war on graft when his lieutenants are going round the country discrediting the President,” Mr Atwoli said.
“You cannot term this (war on graft) an ethnic profiling when (Treasury) Principal Secretary Kamau Thugge and others have also been arraigned to answer to the charges,” he said.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has often maintained that he will not spare anyone mentioned in graft related cases, adding that he's determined to defeat corruption.
