In a tweet after the match, the former Starehe Member of Parliament aspirant blasted the government for their lack of proper support in raising players talents.

"Well done #HarambeeStars. Our government has invested ZERO in your skills development but inspite of that, you represented us proudly. You did well! Matasi is our (Kenya's) man of the match! #KenyaVsSenegal #SENKEN #AFCON2019," he said.

Mwangi celebrated the team who tried their best to reach the African Cup of Nations competitions after 15 years out of it.

He pointed out that Kenya's goalkeeper Patrick Matasi was Harambee Stars man of the man after saving various shots from Senegal players including Senegal and Liverpool striker Sadio Mane's penalty shot.

Algeria leads Group C after winning all their three matches, Senegal is in the second position with six points, Harambee Stars are in the third position while Tanzania finishes on fourth without a point.

Their defeat to Senegal dimmed their chances of qualifying for the round of 16 of the AFCON competitions. The results from Groups F and E on Tuesday will determine if Kenya will go through as one of the four best third-placed teams.
