Speaking on Sunday during a church service in Ngenyilel's St Mary's Osorongai Catholic Church, Mandago said second term governors should retire honourably.

He further noted that introducing regional governments would add more burden to the tax payer.

"In the national discourse of Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), I am not for the idea of creating regional governments, counties should be allocated more resources so that services go deeper into the villages, more closer to mwananchi," he said.

"Why should one surely over 70 years want to continue staying in power through creation of regional governments. We are not the only who can lead this country, let other people also be allowed to lead," he added.

The vocal governor divulged that he will leave office and engage in other activities, after his term elapses.

He urged other county bosses to focus on development, and advocate for issues that will benefit the electorate.
