As pressure continues to mount on Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko over claims of corruption in his government, former Kamukunji MP Simon Mbugua has come to the defence of the beleaguered Sonko, whom he claims is a victim of a political witch-hunt.
Sonko's troubles at the helm of Nairobi took another twist a few days after a group of Nairobi MPs called for his arrest for allegedly running down the County. However, Sonko has always dismissed corruption allegations against him.
According to the lawmakers, Nairobi county has failed to initiate any development project since 2017.
However, Mbugua who is also a member of the East Africa Legislative Assembly has come out to Sonko's defence saying that the Governor is a victim of the cartel- network in the county.
" I may be ignorant of facts, but how can one control 122 billion and purportedly siphon 39 million only?" Mbugua posted.
While advising the governor on how to get out of his current troubles, Mbugua seemed to suggest that Sonko's problems are political and that she should support the Building Bridges Initiative.
"Gov Sonko, please support BBI. If you do...this blackmail and witch hunt from cartels will finish you instantly," the EALA lawmaker claimed.
