Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has blamed the Judiciary for the slow pace of infrastructural development in the county.

Speaking in his office on Wednesday, Mandago said the county is lagging behind in development due to court injunctions stopping certain projects over land ownership.

“I am disappointed with the Judiciary for shielding people who have encroached on public land meant for road construction by always giving them court injunctions,” he said,

The county boss said many road construction projects have been stopped after people who claim to be owners of the land in question take them to court.

“I give a stern warning to those who have encroached on public land that their days are numbered and they should either return it back to the government or the government comes for it, “ he said.

Mandago said he will deal with those engaged in land grabbing no matter their status in society.

“When it comes to theft of public utilities, I won’t compromise with anyone, you either bring it peacefully or we take it from you forcefully. We cannot stop projects meant to benefit wananchi because of a single person,” he said.
