If you need to heal faster after surgery, then you must follow the doctor's instructions and eat some specific foods.
Here is how to recover faster after undergoing surgery as pointed out by Jennifer Whitlock, RN, MSN, FN, a surgical intensive care unit (ICU) expert.
1. Eat right for recovery.
Most people, after surgery, loss their appetite. However, it is more than imperative that you eat some foods as this will help you heal faster.
The foods one should eat include: chickens, eggs, fibers, food enriched with vitamin c and iron including probiotics . These foods are believed to have healing properties.
On the same note, try as much as possible to avoid sport drinks and sugary foods, as they relent the healing process.
2. Don't skip follow up appointments.
This is usually important since the doctor or physician will be checking for something you may not be able to see.
For instance, for those who've underwent hysterectomy surgery, it is a requirement that you see the doctor more often for any problem or infection.
3. Follow instructions
People should always learn to follow instructions. Some people fail to follow simple instructions. For instance, when a doctor tells you never swim or lift heavyweights or luggage for the first two weeks, it is not negotiable.
