Baringo Senator Gideon Moi on Monday had one of his closest ally winning a major seat in Center for Multiparty Democracy (CMD).
CMD was established in 2004 and one of it's core mandate is to promote interests of major and small parties in the country through active participation.
KANU nominated Senator Abshiro Halake on Monday was elected Chairperson of CMD, a significant seat for KANU ahead of 2022 general elections.
"My hearty congratulations to Senator Abshiro Halake on her deserving, and humbling victory as the newly elected Chairperson of the Center for Multiparty Democracy (CMD)," Moi wrote.
The independence party also took to Facebook to congratulate the lawmaker, who is key in organising the parties events across the country.
"KANU Nominated Hon. Senator Abshiro Halake has been elected CMD new Chairperson by a large margin congratulations Senator Abshiro, and KANU fraternity at large," the party said.
Former South Mugirango MP Omingo Magara, who is also the party leader of PDP, was the chairperson of CMD and he's expected to handover to Abshiro.
The nominated senator is close to Moi, who is keen to contest presidential polls in 2022. She was among Moi's delegation that received Raila Odinga in Kabarak recently.
