In an interview on Radio Maisha on Tuesday, the governor argued that currently, communities have to merge for them to have chances of winning the race to State House.

He insisted that the mindset cannot change suddenly unless a total overhaul takes place in the current constitutional set-up to allow small communities to win.

"Alliances have to be made to allow for someone to run as president in this current Kenyan setup. The tribal mindset will not disappear overnight. For me to become President in this Kenya, alliances have to be made," Mutua argued.

Dr Mutua said he's now only interested in the Building Bridges Initiative report which he believes will cure some of Kenya's problems.

"The only alliance or BBI I'm interested in, is one that shapes the economic status in Kenya for the better. One that will roll back poverty, create employment and ensure that people have money in the pocket," he said.

On Sunday, ODM leader Raila Odinga who is pushing for changes in the country said Kenya will witness changes after the review of the Constitution.

Raila said the outcome of the Kibra by-election reflects what is contained in the Building Bridges Initiative report which is purposely meant to unite the country.

The ODM leader said the BBI will end politics of hate, tribalism, and corruption.
