A top aide of Governor John Nyagarama was on Monday arrested and caged at Kisii Central Police Station.
Mr Kefa Mocheche, who served as Nyagarama's personal assistant from 2013-17, was arrested over claims that he withdrew a petition without consulting his lawyers.
In a WhatsApp text, Mr Mocheche, currently serving as Deputy Chief of Staff, confirmed his arrest but failed to give further details over the same.
"Yes, I was arrested, I am currently in Kisii Central Police Station," he said in a brief text to the writer.
According to activist Vincent Omao, Mr Mocheche was arrested by Ochoki and Company Advocates for allegedly withdrawing a petition challenging his suspension in 2018 without consulting.
"Yes, we arrested him. He owes our company Sh1.3 million as costs of a petition we filed on his behalf. He withdrew the case without our consent," Omao confirmed.
Mocheche had been suspended from government last year and he sought services of the company which belongs to South Nyanza LSK branch Chairman Wilkins Ochoki.
He had clashed with Deputy Governor Amos Nyaribo, who suspended him. He was later reinstated by Governor John Nyagarama.
