Ms Ong’era reportedly admitted that incumbent Nyando MP Fred Outa was rigged in 2013 party primaries during her time as party Executive Director ODM, unfairly taking the ticket from Mr Henry Okello who reportedly won the nominations.

Speaking on Wednesday to the reporter, Kiogoro MCA Samuel Apoko said the remarks demeaned the party’s image and demanded an apology.

“I have gone through the papers and even heard from the media Ms Ong’era saying they rigged Outa in in 2013 instead of giving the ticket to Mr Okello on reasons that Okello wasn't known. These are unfortunate remarks from a person of Ong’eras caliber,” said Apoko.

“By the fact that she was the party’s executive director, she should have taken responsibility to apologise for such reckless remarks. She portrays ODM as a party that doesn’t respect democracy yet she was the one overseeing nominations by them,” he added.

However, Ms Ong’era defended her remarks saying they would strengthen the party for the sake of preparing to come with ‘exceptional’ strategies that could help the party win the majority.

“Sometimes we must understand that we are not perfect. When a mistake is committed, it’s good to learn from it. It’s good, to be honest, and for that matter, I was honest so that the party wins a majority in 2017 by learning from previous mistakes,” she said.
