Nairobi Speaker Beatrice Elachi has ordered all suspended county workers to resume work with immediate effect.
On Tuesday, Elachi said that the workers are expected to report to their stations ahead of her meeting with MCAs.
She said that the decision has been reached to ensure the smooth running of the county operations following the court’s decision to bar Governor Mike Sonko from accessing the office of graft-related charges.
The officials who had been suspended include Finance CEC Charles Kerich and Health CEC Mohamed Dagane.
The two were suspended after the collapse of Precious Talent School in Ng'ando ward, which left eight students dead.
Elachi also said that he will only address the issue of the nomination of Anne Kanuna as Deputy Governor after she gets advice from the office of the Attorney General.
“We have requested institutions that interpret laws to advise us and we are waiting for the Supreme Court to come back to us. Once we get the answers we will be able to address the issue on the legality of the nomination," she explained.
The county boss was blocked from office after he was arrested and charged over the misappropriation of the Sh.357 million belonging to the county government.
Sonko on Monday evening decided to nominate Kanuna after leaders raised concern over a crisis in his administration.
