Kibauni, Ikalaasa and Ngomani residents have raised concerns over poor services provided by the county government ambulances.

Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, the residents claimed the ambulances that were allocated to Mwala Sub-County by the Machakos Govenor Alfred Mutua, stopped serving them almost two months ago.

The residents, led by Chief Kyalo Mutiso, claimed that whenever they request for the services during emergencies, the response is always negative with claims that the ambulances are not fuelled.

"We are calling upon our governor to ensure the ambulances which he gave us, assist us in our time of need. It makes no sense for them to be packed near us yet our people die because we are unable to get them to hospital in time," said Mutiso.

During the launch of the 70 ambulances and 10 health emergency motorcycles in February 2014, Governor Mutua said each ambulance will have fuel, location trackers, communication radio and two trained paramedics conversant with the area of operation.

The governor said the ambulances' fueling and maintenance expenses had been budgeted for.

The residents asked the governor to intervene in the matter, as they are suffering due to lack of access to proper medical care.
