The Nakuru County government is committed to ensuring that all buildings especially in the town centre and markets are fitted with fire fighting equipment as a precautionary measure in case of a fire incident.
Governor Kinuthia Mbugua who regretted the different fire incidents that have hit Nakuru in the recent days, said they were shying away potential investors.
Speaking in Industrial Area on Wednesday at a fuel godown, the county boss noted that potential contractors will be tasked to facilitate the project before the current final year elapses.
This, he said, would be a perfect precautionary measure to fire incidents before calling for help from the county fire fighting department.
"I believe this will help in fighting fire outbreaks or accidents faster before external help arrives. We should ensure that loses incurred remain as minimal as possible," he said.
He instructed for an immediate audit of factories and business premises that have not fitted enough fire fighting equipment so that they be considered in the project.
