Elders drawn from Mauche, Lare, Kihingo, Nesuit, Mau and Njoro wards have cited health, infrastructure, agriculture and education as sectors that have lagged behind in development.

They said that the county government needs to work on the sectors for development to be realised in the area.

This was revealed on Thursday as the county government led by Governor Kinuthia Mbugua and his deputy Joseph Ruto pitched camp in a two-day outreach programme in the area.

In response, Mbugua stated that the grievances raised by the leaders are weighty and are indeed a setback to development but promised to handle them.

“The main objective of this was to get a comprehensive overview of the most pertinent issues affecting day to day lives of the people of Njoro and we have heard from them and we are assuring them that the county government of Nakuru will address them,” he said.

He said that the Nesuit health centre will be revamped and medical equipments installed across health facilities in the sub-county.

The governor also promised to focus on agriculture in the area mainly in crop development as some parts of Njoro sub-county are semi-arid in nature and are adversely affected by drought during dry seasons.

Other sectors that the governor promised to focus on are availing water for Njoro residents and building roads.
