The bid which seeks to among others, reduce parliamentary representation by more than half, has been facing intense criticism from among others, former Premier Raila Odinga.

Speaking on Sunday, Aukot took issue with the attacks on his bill, terming them a product of people who have failed to initiate any changes despite being around for long enough.

He added that the group has as well been only promising reforms in funerals, daring them to bring forth the changes they are claiming they can make through a referendum.

"We are a very young political party. Some of these people have been shouting that they will bring referendum in funerals and disrespecting the dead but you don't need to shout to show that you're pregnant," he said.

The former presidential aspirant made the remarks during an interview on K24's Punchline on Sunday night.

He added that his bid has nothing political, daring the opposers to make known the reasons behind their rivalry to his bid.

"I agree with the characterization by rivals of Punguza Gunia. This is not a political competition. You may want to ask the people opposed to the bill what their beef is," he added.

Raila's allies led by lawyers James Orengo and Otiende Amollo have also poured cols water on the bid, predicting doom for it.
