The Thirdway Alliance leader has since began taking the bill to the county assemblies, as he seeks the backing of at least 24 hours to realize his referendum bid.

In a tweet on Wednesday, Sifuna noted that the bill is not going anywhere, unless Kenyans ignore its faulty content.

He made the remarks in criticism to the Daily Nation, which on reported that the opposition and a section of the Jubilee Party leaders have united to cool the growing pressure from Aukot.

In its headline on Wednesday, the paper reported that ODM leader Raila Odinga, Wiper boss Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya) and Garissa Township MP Aden Duale have combined forces to stop the bill.

Sifuna bashed the paper over the reporting, accusing it of giving misleading information.

"The @NationMediaGrp knows the only way Aukots bill passes is if the public remains ignorant on its contents.

You have a responsibility as a major newspaper to provide information that helps the public make informed decisions @dailynation. Serialize the bill. Stop the sideshows," he wrote.

According to Sifuna, the reporting clearly indicates that the paper has taken sides with the former presidential aspirant.

"It is clear @NationMediaGrp @dailynation has taken a position to support Aukots bill. How else do you explain a headline story on the bill that neither mentions nor discusses its content and merits/demerits thereof?

Constitutional amendment is not a pageant/popularity contest!" he added.
