Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o and his sister Dr Risper Nyagoy have every reason to smile after the Court of Appeal in Kisumu on Tuesday gave an order stopping their arrest.
The two moved to court after Kisumu High Court judge Thrispisa Cherere, last week issued orders for their arrest due to contempt of court.
The judge ordered Kisumu County Police Commander Benson Maweu to arrest the two with immediate effect.
Nyong’o and his sister now have no worry of being arrested until ruling of their application is delivered on October 3.
The two were sued by their nephews led by Kenneth Okuthe for allegedly excluding them, and some of their relatives from the list of beneficiaries of their grandparent’s fortune.
The senior Nyong’o reportedly left behind a fortune worth Sh200 million which include various pieces of land and rental houses.
Justice Cherere had ordered Nyong’o and Nyagoy to include all the children belonging to their sisters as beneficiaries of the property, but the two allegedly failed to comply with the order.
