Makueni Governor Prof Kivutha Kibwana is undoubtedly one of the best performing county bosses in the country.
The former University lecturer is known for his simplicity and calm demeanour, qualities which attract the mightiest and the lowliest towards him.
A few months ago, Kenyans on Twitter (KOT) started hashtag #ApendeAsipende where they declared whether Kibwana likes it or not, they will vote for him in 2022 to become the next president.
One may wonder, why does he attract so much admiration so effortlessly?
On Thursday night, the Governor he gave a hint when said he depends on God's guidance in his daily life, vowing he can never leave the spiritual path due to unending temptations of politics.
"I cannot separate my faith from my daily life. Successful kings had to seek God. It’s only in our modern time where politicians have divorced their faith from politics and won't succeed well compared to the leaders who have integrated faith in their works," he said.
Kibwana made the remarks while speaking to the congregants of the Deliverance Church, Kahawa Sukari, during 'Safari Yangu' segment.
He was invited as chief guest to speak about his journey of faith and how it impacts his day-to-day life as a governor and leader.
The Governor further noted he had been a very successful politician for being humble and placing service to humanity above everything, including pursuit for earthly riches.
"It reaches a time when wealth holds no meaning and desire to give back to the society comes in. That is why I do politics as a ministry," said the Harvard University graduate.
Kibwana is serving his second and final term and recently he hinted at vying for the presidency in the next elections.
Previously he has served as Makueni Member of Parliament, Cabinet Minister and adviser to retired President Mwai Kibaki.
