Already, politicians in support of the push have begun organizing regional consultative forums, with the aim of allowing Kenyans to air their views on the proposed constitutional changes.

Speaking in Taita Taveta County on Friday, the DP stressed on the need for the Garissa Senator Yusuf Haji led commission to make public its plan and arrangements to avoid confusion.

He also challenged Haji to update Kenyans on the progress the taskforce's moves, only days after President Uhuru Kenyatta gazetted the taskforce's term extension.

"We want Haji's committee to provide information and timetable (Tunataka kamati ya haji itoe taarifa na itoe timetable)," he said when he met area leaders.

He also asked politicians to stop imposing their own opinions on Kenyans in a bid to have them included in the report.

According to the DP, the push should be all-inclusive and all the opinions brought on board should be given consideration, including those from Kenyans from the lowest levels.

"Each opinion is equal, none is superior to the other. The opinions of vegetable seller and a bodaboda operator is equal to that of any honorable (Kila maoni ni sawa, hakuna maoni superior kuliko ingine. Hata kama mtu ni mama mboga ama bodaboda maoni yake ni muhimu kama mheshimiwa yeyote)," he added.

The DP, who has been blowing hot and cold on the BBI push, is currently being seen as the highest barrier to its realization.
