Former Kiambu governor William Kabogo has urged Thirdway Alliance Party Leader Ekuru Aukot to withdraw his referendum bid.
The former presidential aspirant has been popularizing his Punguza Mizigo bill which he seeks to use to subject the nation to a constitutional amendment exercise.
Speaking on Wednesday, Kabogo urged him to shelve his bid temporarily and await the proposals of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) taskforce which should be out soon.
He said that this way, there can be deliberations on how the two can be combined or ideas picked from both sides to come up with an even better list of proposals.
"If I were the guy who has fronted this bill (Punguza Mizigo), I would have withdrawn it to await the BBI. Some of the things there are hood and others are ridiculous, bring both proposals and let us talk as a country," he said.
He made the remarks on KTN's Pointblank on Wednesday night, where he added that he would not support Aukot's bill in its current state.
According to Kabogo, the fact that the bill cannot be changed or corrected in the future makes it not worth supporting.
"This thing can't be changed as it is currently, I won't support it," he added.
The bill seeks to among others, reduce elective seats, which he (Aukot) says will help the nation save money which is currently being used to sustain people holding unnecessary seats.
The BBI was formed by President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Premier Raila Odinga after their 2018 truce, to come up with solutions to reasons behind Kenya's recurrent issues.
